Before beginning the wedding planning process, I thought that simply putting together a Pinterest board would make all of my wedding dreams come true. I could not have been more wrong. As a wedding photographer, you would think that I would be slightly more prepared for planning my own wedding and in some ways I definitely was! Deciding on vendors was something that came pretty easy for me because this is what I do. As one of the vendors in a bride’s team, I am well versed in the photography side of wedding planning. But, I never realized how many other details these amazing brides are pulling together all at once. This is what I am in the process of learning.
Personally, I am not much of a planner but I am learning the extreme importance of organization! Soon after getting engaged my biggest priority was finding our wedding date. Like many other couples we really wanted a fall wedding but after doing more research we realized this just was not feasible. And guess what, it’s okay to change your mind! Once we realized our dream date wasn’t available we changed course and are getting married in May. Now, I can’t picture it being any other way. Another lesson I have taken from wedding planning- Go with the flow!
In terms of venues, I have seen so many beautiful wedding venues from my brides and there were others that I was interested in checkin out. Wherever we ended up choosing, I knew that I wanted it to be a place that was ours. I began reaching out to venues and felt more and more confused the further I looked. It wasn’t until my grandmother suggested Greenville Country Club that I began to get some clarity on the situation. From the first meeting at Greenville I could not have felt more relaxed and certain that this was our venue. This romantic country manor with ivy covered walls and a beautiful back garden was the perfect setting. Patrick agreed, and we set the date. This was the biggest sigh of relief. Trust me, Brides-to-be, once you have your wedding date everything else will begin to fall together. Focus on one thing at a time and start checking things off your list.
Stay tuned for more wedding planning updates and tips! I’m learning just like you are!
