I sat down on the retaining wall and watched a young boy and his mother playing a game of oversized Jenga. Taking in the sights and sounds of Spruce Street Harbor Park instantly put me at ease. I saw a young couple walking towards me, perfectly in sync. They were holding hands, laughing and talking, completely wrapped up in their own world. I love this moment. Before the couple sees me and I can see them as they truly are. A lot of times, couples will tell me how nervous they are about the session. “We are terrible at taking photos.” That’s usually how the conversation starts, but in my experience that’s never the case. Having nerves about the unknown is totally normal! But engagement sessions are all about capturing you as you truly are. That moment when it’s just the two of you- holding hands, laughing, talking.
Just take a look at these two and you will see they are Philly natives with such an air of cool sophistication about them. Nicole was so comfortable with Mike and vice-versa, I felt as though I had known them forever. When couples feel at ease together, it’s infectious. I can’t wait to celebrate these two next fall.
Their connection is electric! I can’t wait to see their wedding!
