When it comes to planning a wedding weekend in the Poconos, there isn’t a single detail Skytop Lodge hasn’t already thought through. Completed in 1928 and set across 5,500 acres of rolling mountain landscape, this historic resort has spent nearly a century doing one thing exceptionally well: creating space for families to gather, reconnect, and make memories that last for generations.

Sara and Kevin’s wedding weekend at Skytop Lodge felt like a natural extension of that legacy—inseparable from the property itself. Hosting their celebration here meant adding their own beautiful chapter to a story already a century in the making!
Why a Full Wedding Weekend at Skytop Lodge Feels So Meaningful
Sara and Kevin chose full wedding weekend photography coverage, and Skytop Lodge in early September was the perfect setting for it. I love when wedding celebrations are designed as multi-day gatherings and feel more like a family reunion than your traditional timeline.

Their night-before celebration allowed them to welcome friends and family who had traveled in, actually spend time together, and set the tone for the weekend ahead. This family was a blast to hang out with!! There was always someone laughing, joking, hugging, or hyping everyone up. They had the unmistakable energy of people who are genuinely excited to be together.

Skytop Lodge also makes it easy to expand your celebration beyond the ceremony itself. In addition to weddings, the resort offers seamless planning support for rehearsal dinners, luncheons, brunches, and immersive on-property wedding experiences—something that becomes invaluable when hosting a destination-style weekend in the mountains.

Night-Before Portraits & Gathering Among the Gardens
The night before the wedding, Sara wore a modern strapless lace dress, which was perfectly suited to the setting and hinted at her wedding dress style. We photographed couples’ portraits during golden hour among bursting red and gold florals, with Skytop’s ivy-covered stone lodge rising quietly behind them.

I always encourage couples to consider hosting a full wedding weekend, especially when planning a destination or resort wedding: you’ll never regret giving yourselves more time!

A Wedding Day That Let the Moment Lead
The wedding day itself began under overcast skies, which was actually a blessing in disguise. With 195 guests in attendance, the cloud cover kept everyone comfortable and created beautifully even light for portraits throughout the afternoon. A small wedding party made up entirely of family kept the energy intimate and relaxed from the start.

Sara and Kevin chose to stand alone during the ceremony, keeping the focus squarely on the two of them. And just when we thought skies would stay overcast through the evening, the clouds lifted just enough! The sun broke through at exactly the right moment, bathing the ceremony in the softest golden light. Just beautiful!
This felt like a quiet reminder that sometimes the best moments are the ones you can’t plan.

Their ceremony time was 4:30 PM on Saturday, September 6, and by the time cocktail hour began, the entire property felt wrapped in warmth.
