Cherry Hill Lifestyle Newborn Session in New Jersey with New Jersey Newborn Photographer

Welcome to the world, Noah! I am so thrilled that your parents, Therese and Colin, asked me to capture yet another special milestone for them: their Cherry Hill lifestyle newborn session for their son! I’ve worked with Therese and Colin since their engagement session and wedding in 2018 and I captured their newborn session for their daughter, Cassidy when she came along. Photographing and loving a family like this one, as they grow and change, means so much more to me than you’ll ever know. It never gets old being the one who documents life changes and milestones – and I hope it’s something I never take for granted, either.

Cherry Hill Lifestyle Newborn Session in New Jersey

Noah’s newborn session was photographed in their home. The time together was so relaxed. Therese, Colin, and Cassidy are all super kind and have that quiet energy about them. It’s amazing to watch Therese and Colin as parents of two now. I knew when I watched them with Cassidy that they were going to be naturals at this phase of life – and it’s clear that I was right.

Their Cherry Hill home is absolutely stunning – with lots of neutral colors and light blues featured in Noah’s nursery. Noah’s room is beautiful and had lovely light, so I had Colin hold Noah in their rocker to start. After time in the nursery, we focused on the living room and master bedroom for more portraits. They were both two other spaces that have beautiful light – making my job a little bit easier! In those spaces, I worked on capturing quality portraits of Cassidy and Noah. Is there anything better than new sibling portraits? They were adorable in the end – and they turned out to be some of my favorite moments from this Cherry Hill lifestyle newborn session.

Sibling Portraits during Newborn Sessions

Speaking of Cassidy, I got a chance to hang out and play with her while Noah was taking a break during our Cherry Hill lifestyle newborn session to eat. She was incredibly sweet and it was really special to me to see her after her newborn portraits. Cassidy is a very similar age to my daughter Maxine and it was nice to get some time with her. In my opinion, getting beautiful portraits of the older sibling is important for these sessions as well. While Noah (and other newborns) are the focus of the session, I want to document everything going on in this phase of life.

Tips for Newborn Sessions at Home

Capturing newborn sessions at home is one of my favorite ways to document a new family! Parents are able to relax, be in their own space, and closeby to everything they might need during a newborn session. Plus, I personally believe there’s nothing more incredible than documenting a family in their own space. I want my families to feel comfortable during our session and I think that being able to relax on your own couch or in your own bedroom is the best option.

When you’re prepping for your newborn session, figure out where you might want to have portraits taken in your home. I always recommend baby’s nursery and one other location that has great light. Common locations include kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms. Life is often chaotic with a new baby – so I don’t ask you to clean the space perfectly but try to pick up so we have less to move around the day of the session. Otherwise, find your favorite outfits, relax, and let me do my thing so you have portraits to treasure forever!
